Millis is a small town approximately 30 miles southwest of downtown Boston. It is bordered by Medfield. Originally founded in 1657, Millis has a lot of classic New England charm. Early in the town's history, Millis supported a large industrial hub. A rural area around Causeway Street, in the west end of town, was used for clay excavation for the manufacture of bricks. The town is also home to Richardson's Tavern, which was built in Colonial times. It accomodated George Washington on his way to a visit in Cambridge in 1775. The educational system in Millis is one of the smallest in the state and underwent a complete renovation in 1999. In 2010, Millis High School earned Silver Medal status as one of America's best high schools by US News and World Report.
