West Roxbury in Suffolk County is bordered by Roslindale, Dedham, Brookline and Newton. Its main thoroughfare is Centre Street, lined with great local restaurants and commercial establishments. The population has ascended and declined for decades, with the most recent report being about 30,000 within about 4.60 square miles. A great event that takes place annually is the Corrib Classic 5K Road Race. On the first Sunday of June, this event of typically 2,000 runners has raised over half a million dollars for local causes since its inception in 1994. Other attractions are the Parkway Little League Parade, the public library operated by Boston Public Library and a variety of schools such as the Roxbury Latin School, the Parkway Academy of Technology and Health, and the Urban Science Academy, to name a few.
