On September 25th the next Walk for Living event will be held. Previously known as the Walk to Defeat ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease), this walk aims to raise money for the critical care that individuals suffering from this disease as well as Multiple Sclerosis so desperately need and deserve.
Sponsors will help fund The Leonard Florance Center for Living. It is the first urban green-house center of its kind nationwide to combine cutting-edge technology with a peaceful home environment for its residents. This, in essence, enables ALS patients to actually regain control of their muscles. Fundraising can occur individually or together with a team, and one can be assured that 100% of the proceeds of the event will go to improving the community, dignity and independence of those in need.
The Walk for Living will begin at DCRs Mary OMalley Park on Admirals Hill in Chelsea. Registration begins at 9:00AM with the 2 mile walk-a-thon beginning at 10:00AM. All of this will be followed by food and live entertainment for all. So far, roughly $59,000 has been raised. The target for this event is to raise at least $150,000.
