Boston Hotels: New Marriott Hotel near Fenway

Marriott Hotel Boston, Fenway Park, Boston Hotels, Fenway Park Hotels

Construction got underway in March

When is the last time there has been a new hotel near Fenway Park, Americas Most Beloved Ballpark? It has been decades, at least. Well, there certainly ought to be, and this is the sentiment shared by many. If the Rogers Centre in Toronto can provide its visitors with a hotel (theirs of course overlooks the stadium), then Boston should absolutely provide other walkable options to Fenway Park for tourists. In a past blog we mentioned how there are already plans for a new building that was recently purchased for $5.1 million by the Boston Conservatory that neighbors the park. Now, Marriott Residence Inn looks to also set its roots down in the area.

121 Brookline Avenue will be the location of this new $60 million project, one that is headed by Boston-based developers, Boylston Properties. What began in March, the firm has already demolished the previous site which consisted of a ticket kiosk and parking garage. Now what is envisioned is an eight-story hotel comprising of one hundred and seventy-five rooms to be occupied by Marriott that will have lovely shops and a restaurant on the ground floor for both the guests and public to enjoy.

Pyramid Hotel Group will manage the hotel, as they already do so for the Marriott Residence Inn at the Tudor Wharf in Charlestown. Soon once completed, a covered roof deck pool overlooking the neighborhood will allow guests to relax in a Boston paradise. With new restaurants, stores and bars refreshing the Fenway area, this hotel is bound to be incredibly popular. The new ownership of The Boston Red Sox has rejuvenated the neighborhood that surrounds Fenway Park. Their commitment to preserving the stadium for the long-term has allowed businesses, shops, restaurants, condominiums and more to trust that this district of Boston is one for the present and will become even more attractive and lucrative into the future. This new hotel is planning to cut the ribbon and open for business in the Summer of 2013 and is sure to be a favorite for avid Red Sox fans and general Boston tourists alike.
