The town of Dedham recently received quite favorable news! Throughout the country they have now been named as one of the Top 100 Best Communities for Young People. This award recognizes areas that have a strong commitment to building up programs and services that support the youth as well as reducing dropout rates and this, it must be shared, is the sixth year that these awards have been given out.
The official announcement came on September 12th of 2012 and it is something that the Dedham Youth Commission had to submit an application for. Some of the main points of reference as to why Dedham truly deserves such remarkable notoriety is because of their efforts in their local Youth Commission, the Dedham School Department, Dedham Parks & Recreation and various other complementary organizations.
The Dedham Youth Commission Director, Robert Blaney, is ever so impressed and proud at all of the positive strides Dedham has made in order to be included in this award. He went on to state, Being named one of Americas Promise Alliances 100 Best is significant and meaningful to the entire community. So many dedicated people and programs contributed to this win and it further reinforces our belief that a focus on youth pays dividends to the entire community. With this triumph, Dedham has also been given commemorative signs, a trophy, as well as a $2,500 grant. It just further establishes the already known fact that Dedham is a wonderful place to live both as a family when raising children and as an ambitious young professional when the world is your oyster.
