Furnish the Future Furniture Drive 2012

Olympia Moving and Storage, has teamed up with members of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors (GBAR) for this years "Furnish the Future Furniture Drive 2012". The beneficiaries, the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, will have homeless individuals gathered who are allowed to select various furniture items from the Coalitions warehouse to fill the homes that they have been assisted with in finding. The goal of this event is ultimately to benefit the homeless who are now moving into permanent housing by alleviating just one of the many stressors and hardships of going through this transition.

This year the event will take place November 13th - 15th. Gibson Sothebys International Realtys own Tammy DeWolfe is a member of the GBREB Community Service Committee and is very much involved with this important event. She shared the description and meaning of the committee she is a part of as one that; "...promotes community service activities of members and supports the mission of civic and community organizations which promote housing, home ownership and other REALTOR causes through fundraising initiatives and other activities."

Donations of furniture can be made to the Furniture Bank at the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless headquarters located at 15 Bubier Street in Lynn. Olympia Moving and Storage have graciously offered to pick up items from your home, place of business or other location that are in good condition and ready to be moved into a new home. The contact information for getting this accomplished can be found at the following:

Email: mahomeless@olympiamoving.com Or through Mark McEwen at: 617.231.1204

You are also highly encouraged to drop off your furniture items to Olympia Moving and Storage at 17 Bridge Street in Watertown or at the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless at their address in Lynn that is mentioned above. A 24 hour notification for drop offs would be appreciated prior to your arrival. Wondering what types of furniture would be cherished and greatly appreciated by these future owners? Look no further than this brief list of acceptable items:

  • Desks
  • Dressers
  • Bookshelves
  • Lamps
  • Cabinets
  • Nightstands
  • Sofas
  • Rugs
  • Cribs
  • Bed Frames

Items are subject to refusal from GBAR if there are tears or wear beyond repair for any of the pieces. Finally, for pickup requests, these must all be completed no later than November 9th, to ensure that this process and event run as smoothly and successfully as it always has.
