It is that time of year again, a time when those from near or far get to come together for what is sure to be yet another spectacular occasion celebrating the South End neighborhood of Boston. The 45th annual South End House Tour is set to take place this coming Saturday, October 19th from 10AM until 5PM, rain or shine!
Hosted by the South End Historical Society, this event allows individuals to get back to their roots and appreciate all of the architectural gems and unique characteristics of homes throughout the South End that truly make it the special, famed place that it is today. All of the proceeds from the day go towards the Historical Societys ongoing efforts to preserve the South Ends historical integrity and to further spread the word of its remarkable background and influences. Along with the Spring Ball thrown by the Historical Society, these two events help to provide upwards of one-third of the total annual operating budget of the group.
To us at Gibson Sothebys International Realty with our flagship office located right here in the South End at 556 Tremont Street, special events as such are of significant importance to us. Not only do many of us work in the South End, but a vast majority of us work with clients from here and even live here ourselves. Therefore the drastic efforts that the South End Historical Society make each year for the protection of this landmark of a neighborhood could not be closer aligned with everything we wish to do to further support this area of the Hub. In fact, this year our own Cathy Marotta, who is also based out of our South End office, will proudly be representing Gibson Sothebys International Realty and has graciously donated her time to volunteering at the event this coming Saturday.
For those looking to purchase tickets in advance, a fee of $25 per person is asked, and for those who will pay come the day of the tour, just $30 is required per person. The tour will commence at 10AM at the Boston Center for the Arts, located at 539 Tremont Street. All House Tour attendees also gain free admission to the Ellis Boston Antiques Show!
