Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th, all eyes will be on the Charles River for the 51st Head of the Charles Regatta. This two day rowing competition which began in 1965, attracts over 11,000 athletes and 400,000 spectators.
Racing goes from 8am to 5pm both days and is filled with various rowing competitions, from men and women, to youth and adults. There are various places to watch the races such as at the halfway point between the Anderson and the Weeks Bridges, the Weld Exhibition which is on the Cambridge side of the river, and Reunion Village which is on the Boston side of the river. For a VIP viewing of the races, you can buy tickets for the Eliot Bridge Enclosure. This includes breakfast and coffee in the morning, a gourmet lunch in the afternoon, and great spot for a relaxing viewing on the rivers edge. To end each racing day, you can even head to the award ceremonies which take place at the Rowing and Fitness Expo. On Saturday the award ceremonies are at 4:30pm and 6pm and on Sunday they are held at 3pm and 5:30pm.
This is a weekend that the entire family can enjoy with all ages and even pets welcome to come and watch the 51st Head of the Charles Regatta and Worlds largest rowing event.
