We are pleased to present our Agent Spotlight on Matthew Fyfe-Terry and Ryan Terry of The Terry Group at Gibson Sotheby's International Realty in Hingham, Massachusetts.
What did you do before real estate and how did you get started in the business?
Originally, Matt went to school to become a speech language pathologist. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and studied Communication Sciences and Disorders and Spanish. Matt then attended NYU to earn his master’s degree before ultimately deciding to pursue healthcare management and complete his degree at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Prior to embarking on a career in real estate, Matt worked internationally as a Project Manager in the clinical trial industry.
Ryan studied Business Administration at Northeastern University with concentrations in Marketing and Finance. His successful career as an elite gymnast and World Champion All-Star cheerleader and coach, combined with his background in business, led him to become the Director of Recruitment for Cheer Factor All-Stars.
We shared a love for real estate from the very beginning. One of our first dates was on a helicopter ride over the South Shore to scope out some of the amazing properties from above. We often found ourselves driving around some of the most impressive neighborhoods in New England—from Ryan’s family’s neighborhood in West Newton Hill, to where he grew up in Melrose, to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire where his family has two summer homes. We started attending open houses and developing a mutual interest in real estate together, so we decided to pursue it professionally.
What is something your clients find comfort in that makes them turn to you for their real estate needs?
Our clients find comfort in knowing they have a dynamic team of two professionals behind them every step of the way, in our responsiveness and our aggressive approach to getting the deal done, and in knowing that we will go above and beyond to produce results and deliver value.
What are some of your favorite local hobbies, activities or organizations that you participate in?
As members of the Trustees, we enjoy visiting state and national parks and other scenic and historic sites throughout the South Shore. We are also dedicated to supporting, raising awareness and fundraising for the various Pride organizations in our region, and we donate consistently to the Scituate Animal Shelter, where we were first introduced to our beloved cat.
We also love trying new local restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops.
What do you love most about where you live and work?
We love living and working in some of the most quintessential New England towns. From the history to the diverse landscapes, we appreciate the perfect blend of the old and the new experienced throughout the region.
Specific to the South Shore, we love the juxtaposition of living and working in a place that feels like Cape Cod, while also enjoying the modern amenities and easy access to the city nearby.
What are three sources of joy in your week?
- The time we get to spend together at home and at work.
- The feeling of accomplishment when we are able to help our clients or make an advancement in our own personal lives.
- Getting an energetic and affectionate welcome from our two dogs everytime we come home.
