April Agent Spotlight: Kevin Fruh

Kevin Fruh knows Newburyport. As a Massachusetts native raising his family in the seaside town, Kevin offers his clients unmatched local expertise. In two decades in the industry, Kevin has guided his clients through some of life’s greatest milestones—from the purchase of a first home to the decision to downsize years later.  In 2018, Kevin and his wife Alison launched Fruh Realty, an independent real estate firm serving buyers and sellers throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, and in 2023, Kevin merged Fruh Realty with Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty to unlock new opportunities for his agents and their clients in the ever-changing real estate market.  Read as Kevin recalls what led him to real estate, his favorite things about his hometown, and what he’s most looking forward to in joining our team.

What did you do before real estate and how did you get started in the business?

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in real estate and construction. Shortly after college, I partnered with my brother to fix and flip an old house. I quickly fell in love with the industry, and decided to get my real estate license so I could sell the properties I renovated. Friends and family soon saw me as a local expert, and I quickly discovered my passion for helping others navigate the process. I switched to selling full time and have never looked back.

What is something your clients find comfort in that makes them turn to you for their real estate needs?

With two decades of experience and almost 600 homes sold, my clients know they have a trusted advisor by their side. My approach has always been service, not sales, and they appreciate my candid, transparent and honest demeanor. As a Newburyport native married to a local, and as a parent raising my family here, buyers and sellers benefit from my extensive local knowledge and network.

What are some of your favorite local hobbies, activities or organizations that you participate in?

In the warmer months, I’m an avid golfer and enjoy fishing for stripers on the Merrimack River. In the winter, if I’m not working, I’m skiing with my family at Sunday River in Maine. I currently sit on the board of directors for the Windham Woods, a school for students and families looking for a more hands-on, dynamic educational setting.

What do you love most about where you live and work?

My favorite thing about Newburyport is that it’s an incredibly vibrant community with so much going on. Whether you’re into arts and culture, shopping and eating out, or outdoor activities, there’s always something to do. People are active, engaged and care deeply about each other and the community.

Any favorite spots in Newburyport?

The deck at the American Yacht Club. It has the best views in Newburyport.

What are three sources of joy in your week?

Family dinners, dog walks with my wife, and watching my kids in their activities. Between selling real estate and raising a teenager and middle schooler, life gets very busy. We work hard to prioritize time as a family, and it’s those moments of connection that bring me the most joy.

We were thrilled to welcome the Fruh Realty team to the Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty family last month! What excites you most about joining our team and the Sotheby’s International Realty® network?

After running an independent brokerage for the last five years, I’m incredibly excited for the collaboration and partnership that comes with being part of the Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty family. To have the support of another office on the North Shore, as well as twenty five offices across Massachusetts, each filled with such well-respected agents, is just so invigorating. It’s amazing to be able to provide my clients with the exceptional marketing, PR, and relocation support that Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty offers.
